We've been doing this blog for nearly a year now, and it should come as no surprise that the Laugh Twins love wrestling! But there's something we love more.

Wrestling DVDs!

Why? Well, unlike day-to-day professional wrestling, the DVDs come prepackaged with all the good stuff and none of the Miz stuff. Add in some behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, and you have several hours of quality entertainment.

As you can imagine, we were excited when we found out that the "Dean of Extreme" (our nickname, not his, as far as we know), Jeff Hardy, would be getting a full-fledged release from WWE's DVD machine. To make matters better, it was scheduled to come out around Christmas! Our parents told us there wasn't a Santa, but we all know he lives in Stamford, Connecticut.

(Incidentally, Stamford's wikipedia page has it's priorities all wrong. WWE Headquarters is mentioned three-quarters of the way down the page, after the Versus NHL studio show and the YES network, and just before the fictional workplace of "The Office." Who's in charge of this thing???)

Well, the unfortunate happened...

BUSTED!! ...seriously.

Yes, just days after his last appearance on WWE television, Jeff Hardy met the long arm of the law, and that arm searched Jeff's house and found a number of prescription pills and some cocaine residue. Needless to say, he's got a little bit longer arrest record at the moment.

WWE, the fine, upstanding company they are, likely want to distance themselves from this druggie, despite the fact that they used that as part of his storyline for nearly a year. Still, they've decided to drop Hardy's DVD from their upcoming release schedule. We were heartbroken.

That is, until today.

You see, so many people love to LOL @ Wresslin', we have some fans beyond the velvet rope. We were sent some of the material that was to be included on the DVD from our friends inside WWE's DVD production group. And being shepherds to all the young members of the LOL, Wresslin' Junior Laugh Squad, we bring them to you. Consider it our way of making sure your Christmas isn't ruined.

This feature seems to be timed to take advantage of Smackdown's 10th anniversary, and since Jeff ended his career on Friday nights, it's only fitting to bring the audience some of his most memorable appearances on the show. Like this one, where he's a guest on Edge's talk segment:



Jeff's Biggest Hits

We all know Hardy can deliver some of the most devastating moves in the wrestling business, and this section brings us just that: all of Jeff's hardest-hitting moves packed into one feature! For instance, he loves to pull out the stops for pay-per-views, and this appearance on No Mercy was certainly no exception...



Or maybe you'd like this sick moonsault from all the way back in 1997! He was going strong back then!!

Jeff's Greatest Promos

We all know that Jeff Hardy is a madman in the ring, performing stunts to the amazement of all in attendance and watching at home. But he's also a genius on the microphone, and WWE was going to highlight that with this section of the DVD, bringing you some of Jeff's most outstanding work outside the squared circle.

Family brings out the best in us, and when he went toe to toe with his own brother at Wrestlemania 25, Jeff came out on the losing end. Of course, that wasn't the end of the story...



Also, not surprisingly, Hardy knows how to handle himself around the ladies!



Jeff didn't do all his best work at WWE either, and being confident in themselves, they're willing to show you a little of his performances with other promotions...

Another big DVDA! (DVD Article)

There aren't many things better than a WWE DVD release. The amount of entertainment packed into those one to three discs is unparalleled in the DVD world. Imagine our surprise when we found out there's a bevy of new possibilities for an upcoming release.

WWE sent out a survey to help determine what this DVD collection would cover. Now, we have a few ideas of our own ("Best of Blondes" anyone?), but let's take a look at what we might encounted in the "Special Interests" section of the local Best Buy pretty soon:

Best of the Elimination Chamber - Apparently there have been nine of these things, so we guess it seems slightly reasonable to have a "best of" already. But just throw all the matches on a DVD and call it day, how about?

Chris Jericho - Oh yes, now this looks good. Jericho certainly deserves one, seeing as how WWE has never released an official Lionheart DVD. Just in case this survey doesn't turn out the way we want, an online petition has been started to make sure that WWE does what we want. There were 112 signatures when we checked; you can add another to that total, Jericholics. And we totally agree, Brittani (call us?)

Craziest Moments in WWE History - We're not sure how this would differ from "WWE's Funniest Moments," but surely something crazy has happened since 2001 to add to that collection.

Ricky Steamboat - This should be on that "craziest moments" DVD, because it's insanity that Steamboat doesn't have his own compilation out yet. Sure, all the WWE fans forgot he existed until Wrestlemania 25, but that shouldn't stop them from honoring the man.

Sting - And another one that needs some love. Despite that the man works for TNA (that's right Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett - it's called work), Sting has had nothing short of a legendary career. We guess you could wait until he gets tired of embarrassing himself.

Raw: Season 1 - What a cool trip down memory lane that would be. Don't forget to blur out those "WWF" logos!

John Morrison - Wait, what?

That's right, they're considering making a John Morrison DVD. Before you throw your hands up and think that WWE is off their rockers, let's think about this for a minute.

He's a Tough Enough winner, and we all know how much of an impact they have made on the WWE...




At least he's still employed, so that's an accomplishment.

He has a wide-ranging personality and can fit into a number of on-screen characters. Heck, in his first month on WWE television, he had three different names!

He was also a member of the tag team MNM, which gave us this:


He then went to ECW, and finally became the John Morrison we know today, and after winning their championship, decided to take on another partner, which led to this:


Ummm, you know (tm), on second thought WWE, maybe you should just forget that guy.

LOL Wresslin's Big DVDA (DVD Article)!

If there's one thing the WWE is does well is tell it's own story. You'll find numerous entries in the wrestling DVD section of any local video store from them, telling and retelling the careers of their superstars or certain periods in the company's history. The folks over in the DVD production side of the business work overtime, all the time.

There are two notable DVDs coming out in the future that we're going to discuss today. The first is due out this summer, and it's a collection of Macho Man Randy Savage's greatest matches. They are promising several hours of content, spread over a number of discs, we're sure. However, there apparently will not be a biography segment, as there is on several other of these collections. And what a shame they didn't get Macho on camera for this, because it might have been the last time we ever saw him alive.

Oh, you didn't know that? Yeah, Macho Man died recently. Heart failure, it seems.

You were a perfect friend.

Actually, he didn't die at all. But if Wikipedia is to be believed (and really, why wouldn't it be?), the Madness is six feet deep as we speak. Apparently, Savage's wiki was hacked and updated to say that he had died. Knowing absolutely nothing about the workings of a Wikipedia page, we can only assume this was some act of sorcery.

We're pretty sure he was involved.

Macho's publicist fixed the error, and said Savage was "alive and kicking." We're glad he didn't say "alive and well," because we know damn well that isn't true.


The other upcoming DVD of note is one about the history of the WCW. As one of the most popular wrestling federations other than the WWE, this is truly a company that should have its own release and feature some of the most impressive talent from their roster. Unfortunately, two of the biggest minds behind the company, Eric Bischoff and Ted Turner, have declined to take part in the program. To us, that's just a little rude. This was an important moment in wrestling history; you could at least have to decency to offer your views on company.

The DVD will be called The Rise and Fall of WCW.

Ooooh, now we get it...

Never one to let a dead horse go unbeaten, the WWE feels it necessary to remind us, in the title no less, that the WCW had a nice little thing going for a while, but ultimately fell flat on their face and was purchased by the McMahons. Of course, this is nothing new. Sure, you could look at their squashing of any talent that jumps back over from another brand, but their video catalog has a couple examples of its own. First, there's the Ultimate Warrior DVD. Short of being a retrospective of his career, it was simply a bunch of the boys talking about how crazy he was. The title, The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior, didn't leave much to the imagination.

Seriously, someone needs to be fired in the "video naming" department.

Yeah, they've been down this road before. And boy, do they like it.

Now Bisch says that he's not looking to be a part of WWE "revisionist wrestling history," and like we said, we can certainly understand his decision. However, they are certainly in the right to release this retrospective, and there's no lying in saying the WCW did rise and eventual fall. We doubt its "revisionist" to suggest that WCW did a great bit of screwing up on its own, so WWE, being the "winner" in that Monday Night War (another DVD by the way), can certainly tell their story how they see fit. You might call that revisionist; most people would say that's the way things went down.

But it does raise the interesting question of who exactly is going to be on this DVD? You're not going to get Eric or Uncle Ted. Vince Russo is "writing" for TNA right now. A lot of the guys that made a splash in WCW are at TNA as well. We suppose you could rope Hogan in on this, but that's doubtful at best. Then who?
